The Kinley family has owned and harvested hardwood timber since the late 1800's. The timberlands were first purchased in order to supply wood to the local tanneries owned by Adam Kinley. These tanneries were gradually discontinued by the early 1900's and the timberlands were then converted into logging operations. Today, Kinley still owns the original timberlands in the western New York region. These timberlands are considered to have one of the largest mixtures of hardwoods in the world.
