August 9, 2011 - Bonaventure Square site plan approved

ALLEGANY — The proposed Bonaventure Square complex moved one step closer to groundbreaking ceremonies this fall when the Allegany Planning Board approved the site plan for the project Monday.

Developers for the $65 million project said they expect groundbreaking will take place in early October. Living quarters and a bookstore on the site are expected to be completed for the fall of 2012 at St. Bonaventure University.

The complex will be located on Route 417 across from St. Bonaventure on the former Castle property. The university and Ross Wilson & Associates Inc. made proposals a couple of years ago to town of Allegany and Cattaraugus County elected officials for development of the project. General contractor for the project will be Kinley Construction Co. of Allegany.

“Thank you all very much, this has been very thorough and comprehensive,” Craig Marlatt, vice president of Ross Wilson and Associates, Inc., told the planning board after their vote. “You guys have dragged us through the thorns, but if that’s your job we’re happy to have your approval.”
